Neutral Good

Neutral Good is the alignment of virtue which, unlike LG, is unrestrained by power structures, but unlike CG is willing to cooperate with these systems of authority in the pursuit of righteousness. According to the PHB:

Neutral good (NG) folk do the best they can to help others according to their needs.

Comparisons

Versus Lawful Good

LG operates within the confines of some kind of power structure, whereas NG does not tie itself down so.

Versus Chaotic Good

CG actively seeks to subvert the power structures which LG holds dear, but NG is not so brazen. NG might find CG unpragmatic—to which CG might reply, "Pragmatic deez nuts."
