Chaotic Good

From Marillia

This one, in my view, is a bit of a hard alignment to understand, but I'll give it my best shot: Chaotic Good is the alignment of virtue exercised exclusively outside of the confines of systems of authority.

Perhaps the best way to understand CG is to understand how it's different from CN; and perhaps the best way to differentiate CG from CN is to differentiate LG from LN. Lawful Neutral conflates the exercise of power with virtue, whereas Lawful Good distinguishes virtue from power—LG sees power as a means to pursue what is right, whereas LN sees power as what is right. Chaotic Neutral, conversely, conflates the detachment from authority with virtue. It might be said, then, that CG differentiates detachment from authority from virtue. CG sees the separation from power structures as a necessary condition to pursue virtue—it views authority as inherently a corrupting force.
