Kazali ("ka-ZAH-lee" or more accurately "ka-za-LEE") is a great and terrible jinn who was, according to legend, imprisoned 36,000 years ago in a giant boulder in what is now northern Phoena. He's been described as a shaitan and ifrit.

Kazali was accidentally freed by the Pale Brigade in 494 AOL.

Appearance

After breaking free from his prison, Kazali is mostly invisible, but to those with the eyes to see, he appears as a large half-naked figure wearing a sort of toga covering his lower body. He has long white hair and translucent skin, a muscular frame, and blazing veins of crackling energy across his body.

History

According to Phoenic legend, Kazali was a mighty jinn who initiated a reign of terror over many lands, including the northern part of modern-day Phoena, approximately 36,000 years ago.[1] He killed untold numbers of people, sunk entire cities under the earth, and devoured many humans; on one occasion, he consumed approximately 20,000 people in a feast.

Kazali met defeat when a magician known as Sokurna came to end his reign of terror. Sokurna battled Kazali and overcame him; he sealed Kazali in a giant boulder, and placed 367 seals on it.

However, over the millennia, the seals were slowly chipped away at. An associate of Kazali, Calo, sent several people over the years to break Kazali free, and was ultimately responsible for dispelling a few dozen seals.

Liberation

Kazali was finally freed totally when the Pale Brigade arrived in Tulusa, a town close to the boulder. A strange piscine creature met them and spoke in strange riddles; this was followed by a group of bandits attacking the party. They were easily killed, and only a moment later, the boulder which had kept Kazali prisoner for close to 9000 years finally broke.

Kazali was unleashed. He lacked physical form and could only be seen by a select few party members. He then allowed the party one wish: they chose for him to "kill all the Casirists." Then, Kazali vanished.

Kazali reappeared later in Kaiser's dreams. Kazali summoned Calo to Marillia through a giant deactivated portal in the Grimdark. Then, Kazali showed Kaiser King Jassar being possessed by a dark spirit.

  1. Vedi and Kido, however, immediately recognized that this number is total nonsense, and later, in Kaiser's dream, it was made clear that Kazali was imprisoned closer to 9000 years ago.
