Genasi in Marillia differ from the genasi of other settings. In short, genasi in other settings are humans "touched" by the vital energies of the Elemental Planes. In Marillia, genasi are more like the "jinn version" of tieflings and aasimar.
This does not mean Marillia lacks fire genasi, water genasi, etc. Like Marillian jinn, genasi are like energetic sponges: they can absorb and be imbued with the vital energies of their environment. As such, genasi who spend a sufficient amount of time in the Elemental Plane of Fire become fire genasi.
