The Eighth Occaria (oh-KAR-ee-uh) was a massive intercontinental war fought from 485–494 between the Alicantian Empire and a coalition of opposition powers, including (but not limited to) Riyan, Phoena, Vallyra, and Liore. With over two million soldiers mobilized at its peak, the Eighth Occaria was one of the largest wars in the history of man. Although the exact death toll is unknown, it is estimated to be between 4,000,000 and 8 million, most of them civilians in Phoena and Riyan.

The last nail in the coffin for peace talks was when Alicante marched 12,000 soldiers across the demilitarized zone "to ensure her security." Phoena and Riyan withdrew her emissaries jointly, quickly followed by Vallyra and Liore. The Eighth Occaria had resumed.
