The World Axis is a cosmological model and an alternative to the Great Wheel. It posits the existence of two vast cosmic "oceans": the Astral Sea and the Elemental Chaos. The Astral Sea is the realm of mind, will, soul, and spirit, while the Elemental Chaos is a steaming, crackling soup of raw, primordial matter and energy. The Astral Sea is where the astral dominions of Celestia and the Nine Hells can be found, whereas the Elemental Chaos is where the the elemental realms of Abyss, Sky Home, and Root Hold can be found.
