Asuras are entities described in Hinduism and Buddhism as a class of godlike beings who are in constant war with the devas. Hindu texts differentiate between good and evil asuras, with adityas being good and danavas being evil. They're sometimes described as titans, demigods, antigods, or demons. They are also sometimes equated with rakshasas.

In Pathfinder, asuras are categorized as Lawful Evil fiends, who are believed to predate devils. They were created accidentally by the gods. They were one of the dominant races in Hell before Asmodeus arrived and toppled them with the aid of one of their own, Geryon. The mightiest of them are the asura ranas.
