The astral plane (sometimes capitalized), also known as the Astral Sea, the astral world, the astral realm, the astral universe, the Starsea, or the Sea of Stars, is a plane of existence variously postulated as a middle realm between life and death, the world where the mind goes when it is asleep, or the world of the afterlife itself.
The astral plane holds great significance in theology, cosmology, and metaphysics. In the World Axis model of the cosmos, the Astral Sea is considered the birthplace of the gods. In the Great Wheel and Great Beyond, it is considered a pathway connecting the material world to the metaphysical world.
