"Eladrin" is a very confusing term with many different meanings.

Originally, "eladrin" referred to a race of Chaotic Good elf-like celestials native to Arvandor. These eladrin tend to get called "celestial eladrin" nowadays. These guys are basically celestial elves. They're pretty badass.

More recently, a subrace of fey-like elves have been given the name "eladrin."[1]
