Casiric Church
The Casiric Church is a large, decentralized religious institution based in Phoena dedicated to the worship of Casir, the Phoenic god of the desert.
Although lawless, volatile, and tumultuous, like the Abyss there is, paradoxically, a strange semblance of order in the Church. It is structured as an extremely unstable pyramid topped by three high priests. Currently, the three are (in descending order of seniority): Mortzopholus, Sorhan, and Zehr.
Known members
- Maz Morin, one of Sorhan's three war chiefs and his second-in-command, having replaced Yadeen Azaro.
- Mortzopholus
- Rico Valenzo, one of Sorhan's three war chiefs. An Alicantian.
- Sorhan
- Thurik Zayhar, one of Sorhan's three war chiefs.
- Zehr
Leaders
Historically, the Church has been led by three high priests. There is no official process for selecting a new high priest, nor for removing one. At times, more than three people have claimed to be high priests, and at other times, there have been fewer than three. Typically, one becomes high priest by popular recognition, by assassinating a current one, or from the recognition of another high priest or other major religious figure. For example, according to Nico, Sorhan became high priest by ritually murdering his own wife and thereby earning recognition from Mortzopholus. Soon after, Casirists across Phoena recognized Sorhan's ascension, and his status was cemented when Salysa Aidani, Uma of the Hadina, recognized him.[1]
Notes
- ↑ It was a by-product of her declaring him the greatest threat to the Hadina.
