The Sanctuary is the largest Lucian church in the world and the supreme governmental body of the Alicantian Empire. It is de jure headed by the oracle, while its highest ranking ecclesiastical official is the matria.
Structure
Leadership and the Cere
The Sanctuary has two heads: the matria, who represents the people to the Goddess, and the oracle, who represents the Goddess to the people.
The oracle governs a cabinet of her choosing called the Cere, including (but not limited to):
- The matria
- The marshal of Alicante, commander of the army
- The grand admiral of Alicante, commander of the navy (both maritime and aerial)
- The grandmaster of the Hestati
- The spymaster
