In Lucian belief, the Gift is the ability bestowed by the Goddess upon a girl to read the Legacies, a divine record of all knowledge. The girl given the Gift is called the oracle.

The Gift takes an immense toll on the oracle. Many die before the age of 20, and most die before the age of 30.
