Outer god is a term of unclear meaning used by the witch Wyrzag, Lord Greymark, and indirectly by the celestial Ludecco.

Wyrzag speculated that the godstones may originate from an outer god. In response, Lord Greymark said he was not familiar with the term; however, he contradicted himself mere minutes later, when he told the Pale Brigade that one of his simulacra was possessed by "the outer god Nyarlathotep."

Independently, the celestial Ludecco also had similar speculations about the southern godstone. When asked if he knew which god the godstones originate from, he explained that there exists an "Order" to which many gods, including Torm, belong. "Outside" this Order, he said, there exist queer and perverse gods; he said the god of the godstones may be one of these "gods of the Outside."

Notably, the archdevil Azaphiel is of the opinion that Nyarlathotep does not exist.
