because the Oelegelse is said to begin when the wolf Fenriel devours the sun and moon (said to be two lamps forged from the right and left eye, respectively, of the giant Bogrivir), Elzar strapped the sun and moon to chariots pulled by ''jefekr'' (sea unicorns), one male and one female. The female pulls the moon, while the male pulls the sun. The male, forever lustful, chases the female—thus the sun forever chases the moon.
