Dragonborn are draconic humanoids.
The dragonborn of Marillia differ greatly from the dragonborn of other settings. The dragonborn of Marillia are not a slave race bred by dragons, nor are they lesser draconids born alongside dragons. Rather, they are human beings who have undergone rituals in the effort to become a dragon. The dragonborn is the intermediate stage in the metamorphosis of man to dragon.
This has significant ramifications. For one thing, the dragonborn of Marillia are not a species or a subspecies. Dragonborn are not born, but made.[1] Second, dragonborn almost always worship dragons and the dragon gods. Those who become dragonborn are typically members of a dragon-worshiping cult.[2]
