Sorhan (SOR-han, rhymes with "4chan"; Phoenic: شرهان Sharhān) is a Phoenic occultist and the second of the High Priests of the Casiric Church by seniority.

Sorhan is one of the most enigmatic and feared men in the history of Marillia; his very name invokes fear even in the likes of demons, devils, celestials, and gods. He is a deeply mysterious, poorly understood figure, and theories about him abound: he has variously been called a prophet, son, or avatar of Casir, an avatar of Ahuraiya, a face of Nyarlathotep, and a time-traveling Xoyahque who survived the Naque.

Sorhan is the chief architect of the Red Terror, the multiplanar conflict over the Marnova prophecy. He is the most powerful dream magician in Marillia, possibly its greatest swordsman, and an extraordinarily powerful necromancer.

Guises

Among Sorhan's many guises are the Phoenic nobleman and arcanist Lord Greymark, the renegade Sulo, the Ayan priest Wallen, the arcanist Faulkwin, the Casirist swordsman Vickers, and the angel Glory/Nahros.

Lord Greymark

As Lord Greymark, Sorhan presented himself as a "new money" aristocrat and philanderer. Though peasant-born, he attained wealth mysteriously and suddenly years ago and and purchased his way into the Phoenic nobility, taking lordship over the small province of Kashana. He is a powerful arcanist who studied under the famed wizard Scarcella the Madman.

Sulo

As Sulo, Sorhan presented himself as a renegade and outlaw, with connections to powerful pirate lords, most notably Jamit Angari and Colette.

Faulkwin and Wallen

As Faulkwin, Sorhan presented himself as a powerful arcanist in the court of the king of Cand. He journeyed to the town of Thome, where he persuaded the Pale Brigade to slay one of his rebellious captains, Kripnak the God-Dreamer.

Faulkwin, in turn, temporarily took on the guise of "Wallen," an Ayan priest, who slaughtered a large Ayan temple in conjunction with Mortzopholus. Wallen was driven out by soldiers of Azaphiel.

Vickers

As Vickers, Sorhan served "himself": he appointed one of his servants (who resembles him superficially) to act as "Sorhan," while he served as this decoy's right-hand man. Vickers slaughtered numerous Jihuthi villages, including Tezuma's, and temporarily came into possession of the sword Reshakk.

Powers

The extent of Sorhan's powers is unclear. At the very least, he is a master swordsman, one of the most powerful necromancers in Marillian history, and likely the most powerful dream magician presently in Marillia.

Personality

Sorhan is an anomaly among those aligned with Chaotic Evil; he is not impulsive, crass, temperamental, impatient, testy, short-tempered, vindictive, vitriolic, or spiteful. Rather, he is composed, patient, deliberate, calculating, mild-tempered, accommodating, nigh-impossible to anger, charming, humorous, charismatic, and affable. However, he is also sadistic, pitiless, duplicitous, a master manipulator, capable of astonishing cruelty, and armed with cunning that bests even archdevils and demon princes.

Relationships

Pretty much everyone hates Sorhan. He is opposed by the Phoenic crown, the Sanctuary, the Saphora, and the Hadina; the latter's leader, Salysa Aidani, is one of his fiercest opponents. He is opposed by the archdevils Asmodeus, Azaphiel, Hyetta, Valaris, and Hasinsa; the entire Seuvian pantheon; Torm, Raha, and all of Celestia; Azenhar and all of Jalidia; and the jinn lords Marjaid and Kazali.

Sorhan is hated by his children Nico and Seena. He has groomed two of his other children, Maz Morin and Jezra Dassari, into supporting him.
