Religion in Teresis is diverse and varied.
In the Aenea, some of the largest religions are the Lucianus, Saphorism, and Mazdana.
In Aluray, the two major religious systems are Sevani and Akallan paganism.
Major religions
Lucianus
Lucianus | |
Type | Universal religion |
Theology | Monotheism |
Main deities | Goddess |
Main article: Lucianus
The Lucianus is a monotheistic matriarchal religion based on the teachings of Lucia, a 1st-century religious leader whose followers believe her to be the incarnation of the supreme Goddess. The Lucianus is the largest religion in Teresis by number of followers and geographical extent.
Lucians venerate the Goddess above all else, but they also venerate a variety of angels and saints, including:
- The angel Razi, who gifted Lucians with Lucian divine magic.
- The angel Yannara, patron of nature.
- Saint Alexandra
- Saint Emile
- Saint Valentus
Saphorism
Saphorism | |
Type | Ethnic religion |
Theology | Polytheism |
Main deities | Vaisha · Mishra · Ra Casir · Quethe |
Main article: Saphorism
Saphorism is the polytheistic ethnic religion of the Phoenic people. The Phoenics worship a divine family of gods who descend from Ra, god of the sun. Their principal deities are Vaisha, Mishra, Quethe, Ra, and Casir.
Yatamni
Yatamni | |
Type | Ethnic religion |
Theology | Tritheism |
Main deities | Ichunu · Nihuri Coyone |
Main article: Yatamni
Yatamni is the tritheistic ethnic religion of the Jihuthi people. The Jihuthis were once polytheistic, but according to their own myths, their principal god, Ichunu, descended to the earth several centuries ago and commanded the Jihuthis to cease the worship of all gods save for himself, his brother Nihuri, and his daughter Coyone.
Ichunu is the god of the sun and death. Nihuri is the god of chaos, night, and darkness. Coyone is the goddess of war.
Some Jihuthis, mainly nomadic western Jihuthis, do worship other deities, such as Chalti, Okura, Tiztazal, and Rorakan.
Other religions
Somnia
Somnia | |
Type | Cult |
Theology | Henotheism |
Main deities | Zakkadus |
Main article: Somnia
The Somnia is a mystery religion centered around the worship of a deity of dreams, sleep, and nightmares, known as Zakkar or Zakkadus.
Elsia
Elsia | |
Type | Ethnic religion |
Theology | Polytheism |
Main deities | Azura · Aaliyah · Cayno · Gran Sol · Deisha · Mihali |
Main article: Elsia
Before the Lucianus, the Aeneans were polytheists, whose religious beliefs and practices are (now) called the Elsia. The Elsia is a religion on its very last legs; it has relatively few followers.
Some of the central gods in the Elsia are Azura, the Queen of Heaven; Aaliyah, the Divine Daughter; Gran Sol, god of the sun; and Cayno, god of wisdom, knowledge, and skill.
Drow religion
Drow pantheon | |
Type | Racial pantheon |
Theology | Monolatry |
Main deities | Lolth · Eilistraee |
The drow—the dark elves—are forced by their patron deity Lolth to worship her and only her. Their religion is therefore monolatrous. However, some renegade drow do worship other deities, such as Eilistraee.
