Raha, also known by many other names, is one of the most significant and widely worshiped deities in Marillia. He is a god of justice and a patriarchal dragon deity known as the Father of Dragons or simply the Dragon God. In other worlds, he is called Bahamut.
Raha himself claims to be the identity of the Phoenic god Shahra, the Mesopotamian god Marduk, and the Greek god Zeus. In addition, he is also said to be the Akallan god Ultus.
Raha's mythology
In the year 494, Raha delivered a revelation to his champion, the spellscale Empire Sigh Wing, contradicting much of Phoenic mythology. In Phoenic mythology, the sun god Ra found the nascent earth, saw it was covered in ocean, raised up land from its depths, and populated it with humans. This angered the primordial goddess Nyssa, who lay slumbering under the ocean, and so Ra wed her to his son Ebzu. But when their children killed Ebzu, Nyssa waged a great war against creation, at the end of which she was cut to shreds by her son Shahra.
According to Raha himself, however, it was he, not Ra, who found the nascent earth, and that it was already populated with humans. These ancient humans were simple creatures without intelligence or wisdom. Raha gifted them with knowledge, and only then did they spread across the earth, building cities and wonders. Nyssa, who slumbered under the sea, was angered "by the light that now burned within man" and gave birth to a host of monsters and demons to quash early man.
Raha then gifted man magic and technology to defend himself, but Nyssa retaliated by bringing forth a new breed of creatures: living weapons made in her own image. These were the first evil dragons. Raha countered by spilling his own divine blood on the earth: where it fell, the first good dragons rose.
All the earth was engulfed in cataclysmic war. Eventually, Raha decided the war would never end unless he intervened directly. So he descended to the earth in physical form and battled Nyssa. Mountains were crushed underfoot and entire oceans boiled with their fiery breath. Then finally Raha overpowered Nyssa and sealed her and her brood in the underworld. Raha returned to heaven, where he continues to rest from the great battle.
Then man betrayed him. They hunted down the evil dragons, but over the course of millennia, they forgot Raha's sacrifice, and began treating colored[1] dragons and metallic[2] dragons as one. Now, in the year 494, only one dragon survives in all of Marillia.
