Dispater (I say dis-PAY-tur) is an archdevil, one of the Lords of the Nine, and the lord of Dis, the second layer of the Nine Hells.
Dispater is a highly enigmatic figure said to never leave his Iron Tower, with some suggesting he does not even exist and is rather a concoction of the brilliant Titivilus. Others say he is very real and among the original supporters of Asmodeus. Whatever the case, he is rarely, if ever, seen—yet his name is known and feared in numerous lands, where he is worshiped as a god.
Dispater is believed to be one of the few original Lords of the Nine never to be overthrown.
