Khalya (KAL-yuh or KAL-ee-uh) is the Akallan goddess of winter. She is the sister of Ultus, Ellara, Thala, and Zehir, as well as the mother of the Blood Lord Sorn by Zehir.[1]
According to myth, Khalya was once the goddess of death. She reigned over the underworld, which is said to be a kingdom in the far west. However, she was overthrown by her daughter, Sele, who banished her to the north and seized lordship over the underworld. Now Khalya returns every year to unleash her wrath, resulting in winter.
Relationships
Khalya is the sister of Ellara, Thala, Ultus, and Zehir. She birthed Sorn by Zehir. She also birthed many children by Ultus (who was cheating on Ellara): Sele, Aurawil, Agos, Ostos, Sersus, and Uros, the latter four of whom were murdered by Aurawil.
Notes
- ↑ Note that this is only the case in Akallan mythology. Khalya is not worshiped by the Seuvians; they don't consider her Sorn's mother.
