Title(s) | Gravelord Nerull The Gravelord The Foe of All Good The Hater of Life The Bringer of Darkness |
Divine Rank | 17 (greater power) (Greyhawk) 4e: Dead power |
In Greyhawk and the Nentir Vale, Nerull (I say "NAY-rool," "NEH-rull," or "NURL"), often called Gravelord Nerull or the Gravelord, is the Neutral Evil greater god of death and darkness.
Nerull is one of the greatest forces of evil in OG D&D. Some of his nicknames literally include the Foe of All Good and Hater of Life. Talk about being melodramatic.
In the Nentir Vale, Nerull was overthrown and supplanted by the Raven Queen.
Realm
Nerull dwells in Agathys, the sixth and innermost layer of Carceri, in a fortress of ice and steel known as the Necromanteion. He is one of the few inhabitants of Carceri who is there voluntarily. The shators generally leave him alone, for very obvious reasons. When he demands[1] their aid, they listen—again for obvious reasons.
In the NV, it is said that Nerull used to dwell in an astral dominion known as Pluton, the Gray Waste, before he got butchered by the Raven Queen.
Relationships
Nerull has shaky alliances with Hextor and the dragon god Faluzure. He also apparently thinks Incabulos is a pretty cool guy. In the NV, he is the archenemy of the Raven Queen.
Nerull is a worshiper of Tharizdun.
