The Flying Polyps are an alien race about which little is known.
It is known that the FPs colonized Earth approximately 600,000,000 years ago.
Name
Take note that in The Shadow Out of Time, the FPs are referred to a few times as the Elder Things, but—I believe—this is not in reference to the Elder Things mentioned in At the Mountains of Madness.
History
The FPs colonized Earth about 600 million years ago—which was after the Elder Things and Star-Spawn had arrived, but before the Yithians.
