Demogorgon (I think officially it's "DEE-moh-gor-gin," but I go with the Stranger Things pronunciation of "DEH-muh-gor-gin") is a demon lord of the tanar'ri and the self-proclaimed Prince of Demons. He is one of the mightiest entities in the Abyss and the head of the Banana Boys.
Demogorgon was, of course, recently re-popularized by Stranger Things. And if you thought he looked scary in Stranger Things, well, somehow he looks even more terrifying in D&D: he appears as a giant, 18-foot-tall, two-headed baboon with dragon legs and tentacles for arms.
If you know him first and foremost from Stranger Things, take note that, unlike in the show, he isn't referred to as the Demogorgon. He's just Demogorgon. "Demogorgon" is his name. It's not a title or the name of a species or anything like that. It's just his name.

History
No one can agree on Demogorgon's origin.
Some postulate he was either originally an elemental or—believe it or not—a mortal man who was the first soul to be drawn into the Abyss. He was then corrupted by the Queen of Chaos and turned into the prototype for a race of living weapons: the tanar'ri.
According to the mythology of the kopru, Demogorgon was born of two mothers: the Elder Evils Shothotugg and Prukal.
Many demons believe Demogorgon was born of either the Dread Father, the mother of the Abyss (possibly Pale Night or the Queen of Chaos), or the Abyss herself.
It is said by some that Demogorgon originally had one head, but it was split in two by the god Amoth.
Worship
Some worship Demogorgon as a god. This includes some human and drow cultists (mostly those who've lost their minds), but also ixitxachitl, yuan-ti, lizardfolk, and xulgaths.
The yuan-ti know him as Siosivash. Kuo-toa know him as Leemooggoogoon, or Deep Father. His xulgath followers call him Ahmon-Ibor, roughly translating to Sibilant Beast.
Relationships
Demogorgon does not have many friends.
Possibly Demogorgon's strongest ally is the ancient lord lurking underneath the waters of Shadowsea—Dagon. His only other allies are Ilsidahur and Belaphoss (his pawns), Zuggtmoy (his fren), and Malcanthet (his girlfriend[1]).
Demogorgon's greatest foes are Orcus, Graz'zt, Obox-ob, and (to a lesser extent) Brazzers Blue. Demogorgon is of the belief that Obox-ob is alive. His highest priority is finding and killing him once and for all. It is said that the Obox-ob is the only entity in the Abyss Demogorgon fears.
Shami-Amourae is one of Demogorgon's exes. He hurled her into the Wells of Darkness after their particularly nasty breakup.
