In Greyhawk, Iuz (I have to imagine this is pronounced "EYE-ooz") is the Chaotic Evil half-demon demigod of deceit and cruelty. He is the son of none other than the Witch-Queen Iggwilv and the demon lord Graz'zt. He is the ruler of the Empire of Iuz.

Iuz is one of the OG villains of D&D. He goes all the way back to Gary.

Titles and epithets

Iuz is sometimes known as Iuz the Old, Iuz the Evil, and the Lord of Pain.

Relationships

Iuz has a pretty nutty family tree. He's the lovechild of one of the ultimate power couples: Tasha and Graz'zt. He's allied to his father, though their relationship has been rocky at times, such as when Graz'zt imprisoned Iggwilv. However, Iuz has been described as Graz'zt's "pride and joy." Graz'zt genuinely holds his son in extremely high regard.

Being the son of Graz'zt, Iuz is technically the grandson of Pale Night, and whoever the fuck Graz'zt's father is. Rhyxali—Graz'zt's favorite sister—is his aunt.

Through his mother, he's the grandson (non-biological) of Baba Yaga.

Iuz is allied to many other Abyssal lords, such as Pazuzu and Zuggtmoy. It is possible that he, like his father, is allied to Utunchoa. Some of his greatest enemies include Saint Cuthbert, Vecna, and Zagyg.

Iuz revels in the exploitation of the weak by the strong, rule by guile and deceit, and the inflicting of pain for the sheer joy of it. His followers seek to expand the reach of the nation of Iuz, crushing enemies only after they’ve tasted agony beyond imagining. Power, pain, and oppression are the ultimate goals. and no means to those ends is beyond the pale. No trick is too cruel, no attack too ruthless, and no sacrifice to Iuz too sickening.
